A single inch of rain on an average roof sends hundreds of gallons of water into your gutters. If downspouts dump that water right next to the house, it can soak the soil around the foundation and end up as a wet basement, cracked walkways or eroded landscaping.
We look at where each downspout drains, how the yard slopes and where water can be safely released, then design a system that moves water well away from the house.
Keeping water away from the house helps reduce basement leaks and foundation problems.
Controlled discharge protects mulch beds, lawns and landscaping from washouts.
Rerouted downspouts mean less water and winter ice on paths, steps and driveways.
Larger downspouts drain faster and clog less, reducing gutter overflow.
3×4-inch downspouts carry roughly twice the water of standard 2×3 downspouts.
Hinged or fixed extensions that discharge water several feet from the house.
Simple concrete or plastic blocks that spread water and prevent soil erosion.
Buried solid pipe that carries water to a safe discharge point in your yard.
Discreet outlets at the end of underground lines that open when water flows.
Extra outlets on long or overloaded gutter runs to reduce overflow.
We check your roof edge, fascia, existing gutters and where water drains, then give you a clear written estimate.
We size gutters and downspouts for your roof area, plan the pitch and choose discharge points away from the foundation.
Gutters are formed and hung with hidden hangers, sealed at miters and end caps, and connected to properly placed downspouts.
We run water through the system to confirm flow, clean up the job site and walk the finished work with you.
A common guideline is to discharge water at least several feet away from the foundation, and farther where the ground slopes toward the house. We recommend a solution based on your yard and soil.
They work well when installed with solid pipe, a proper slope and a safe outlet. They should be accessible for cleaning, and the discharge point should not send water onto a neighbor’s property or a walkway.
If your gutters overflow in heavy rain, or a downspout drains a large roof area, upgrading to 3×4-inch downspouts or adding another downspout is often the most effective fix.
